‘Whatever is good, let it happen’: Erdoğan on Turkey-Russia-China alliance proposal

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, commenting on a statement by Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), about a potential alliance between Turkey, Russia, and China aimed at countering regional threats, said he is not yet “fully familiar” with the initiative, noting that “whatever is good, let it happen,” RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier, Bahçeli proposed forming a strategic alliance between Turkey, Russia, and China as a counterweight to the “coalition of evil,” which includes the United States and Israel. He accused Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip over more than 700 days and emphasized that Israeli provocations pose a direct threat to Turkey’s security and regional stability. Consequently, he argued that all possible scenarios should be considered.

“Honestly, I haven’t followed this issue closely, but whatever is good, let it happen,” Erdoğan told reporters in New York.

Erdoğan is set to attend the U.N. General Assembly and will hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Sept. 25.
