Azerbaijan is actively carrying out roadworks in Aghdam
(toward Stepanakert). MP Tigran Abrahamyan from the With Honor faction made a
Facebookpost on this.
“It is noteworthy that these works started in July, in
the wake of the Brussels talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Looking at all
possible options, we can infer that either Azerbaijan was given the right to
use the Aghdam-Stepanakert route, considering the tacit consent of the Armenian
authorities, or the fact of Armenia’s washing its hands of the Artsakh issue
served as a green light for Azerbaijan to use this route at some point in the
future. Maybe, public statements made by some forces in Stepanakert, regarding
the usage of the Aghdam-Stepanakert route gave impetus to Azerbaijan. However,
as far as I understand, many people in Artsakh deem this move a step to
Azerbaijanation and strongly oppose it. Anyway, Azerbaijan is into something
that does not serve Armenian interests,” he wrote.
