
Tehran and Moscow to sign agreement on new nuclear power units
Iran and Russia are set to sign an agreement in the coming days to construct new nuclear power units in the Islamic Republic, Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, said.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation will sign an agreement this week to build new nuclear power units. The intergovernmental agreement between the two countries foresees Russia constructing eight nuclear units, four of which will be in Bushehr. Iran will inform Russia about the construction of additional units,” Eslami said.
He added that Iran plans to generate 20,000 MW of energy at its nuclear plants, with Russia serving as the main partner in this process.
“This visit to Moscow is an important milestone for Iran-Russia relations, particularly in the fields of energy and nuclear cooperation. We will sign agreements aimed at accelerating the development of nuclear projects and will carry out important visits,” he the official stated.
