Iran rebuilding missile sites targeted by Israel, but lacks key components

Iran has begun rebuilding missile-production sites targeted by Israel during its 12-day war in June, satellite images analyzed by the Associated Press show.

Experts say that reviving the missile program is of vital importance to Iran.

During the June conflict, Iran’s air defense systems were rendered inoperative. Missile technology specialists told the AP that one of Tehran’s main objectives is acquiring equipment necessary to evenly mix missile fuel components. This is particularly urgent given the potential reinstatement of UN sanctions against Iran later this month, which aim to curb the development of its missile program.

New satellite images from Planet Labs PBC show reconstruction work underway at facilities in Parchin and Shahrud. In Parchin, several buildings appear to be in the process of repair.
