Poland reopens border with Belarus

Poland has reopened its border with Belarus, Belta reports.

Currently, two border checkpoints are operating between Belarus and Poland. Of these, only the Brest checkpoint is open for passenger traffic.

Poland had unilaterally closed the border with Belarus on Sept. 12, amid the “Zapad-2025” joint military exercises conducted by Russia in Belarus. The exercises concluded on Sept. 16. No reopening date was set when the border was initially closed.

On the night of Sept. 10, around 20 Russian drones entered Polish territory. Fighter jets were scrambled to intercept them, and several drones were shot down. This marked the first time drones were downed over NATO territory.
