The story behind the iconic photograph

During the 44-day war, a photograph of artilleryman Albert Hovhannisyan inspired many and gave hope. In the photo, he is completely merged with his artillery, becoming one with it, seemingly detached from the crew photographing him and from the reality around him.

With fingers blackened from gunfire and shell explosions, he calmly ate an apple. The photograph truly became a symbol of the war and the army.
