The United States is aware of Vagif Khachatryan’s arrest at
the checkpoint in the Lachin corridor. Under the supervision of an
international humanitarian organization, he was being transferred to Armenia to

The State Department added that the United States is still
deeply concerned that Azerbaijan continues to deny passage of commercial,
humanitarian and private vehicles through the Lachin corridor.
According to the U.S. Department of State, prevention of
humanitarian movement aggravates the humanitarian crisis and thwarts the
efforts to build trust in the peace process.
“Free movement of commercial, humanitarian and private
vehicles through the Lachin corridor must be immediately ensured,” reads
the U.S. DOS’s response.
“We keep claiming that peace in the region must imply
protection of rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. We welcome
the dialogue that works toward this,” U.S. DOS noted.
