Israel delivers devastating strikes on Gaza amid Trump-proposed ceasefire

Israeli aircraft and tanks carried out devastating strikes on Gaza overnight and Sunday morning, destroying several residential buildings, Reuters reports. At the same time, Palestinians were pinning their hopes on a U.S.-proposed plan aimed at halting the conflict.

U.S. President Donald Trump, who had earlier called for a halt to airstrikes, announced that Israel had agreed to stop the movement of its forces beyond a designated line in Gaza. Once Hamas confirms the agreement, the ceasefire will take effect immediately, and no further military operations will be carried out.

Meetings are being prepared in Egypt for security and peace negotiations, involving representatives from Hamas, Israel, the U.S., and Qatar. Hamas has already accepted several key provisions of Trump’s 20-point proposal, including ending the war, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the release of prisoners, though some issues remain under discussion.

In certain areas of Gaza, Israel has continued attacks while warning residents not to return to evacuated zones.
