Macron to make official statement

French President Emmanuel Macron will make an official statement on Oct. 8, Le Figaro reports.

The address comes as the deadline set by Macron for “final discussions with political forces” approaches. The negotiations were led by former Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, who resigned on Oct. 6.

On Oct. 7, Mathilde Panot, president of the La France Insoumise group, announced that the National Assembly bureau would discuss a proposal to remove Macron from office. The resolution, already signed by 104 members of parliament, is scheduled for a vote on Oct. 8.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on Macron’s upcoming statement with a question: “Has Russia’s ‘shadow fleet’ finished him off?”
