Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan brutally beaten 4 years ago passes away

On Sep. 18, 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan was
brutally beaten outside an apartment building on Arsenyan Street in the town of
Yeghegnadzor of the Vayots Dzor Province. He was in a coma for more than three
years.

According to his family members, Trdat Sargsyan, who was the
Governor of the Vayots Dzor Province at that time, was directly engaged in the
violence against the lieutenant colonel. He resigned as governor of the
province in the wake of this scandal. Now he is a deputy from the Civil
Contract faction.
