Erdoğan welcomes ceasefire in Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his gratitude to the United States, Qatar, and Egypt for their role in establishing a ceasefire in Gaza.

According to Turkish media, Erdoğan welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between Hamas and Israel, in which Turkey was also engaged.

“I would like to extend special thanks to U.S. President Donald Trump, who demonstrated the necessary political will to call on the Israeli government for a ceasefire, as well as to our brotherly countries, Qatar and Egypt, for their significant contributions to the signing of the agreement,” he said.

Earlier reports indicated that Israel and Hamas had announced a long-awaited ceasefire and a prisoner exchange agreement as part of the first phase of Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza.

“I am proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our peace plan. This means that all hostages will soon be released, and Israel will withdraw its forces to the agreed line — a first step toward lasting, sustainable, and eternal peace,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
