Peru’s president impeached amid rising crime rates

Peru’s legislature has unanimously voted to impeach President Dina Boluarte, citing the country’s escalating crime rates, according to news.ru.

The security situation in Peru has deteriorated significantly, leading to a vote of no confidence against Interior Minister Juan José Santiváñez in March. In May, Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzén also resigned.

The report notes that since June 7, 34 lawmakers have officially supported the impeachment of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This number must reach 36 to initiate the process.

Earlier, it was reported that on Oct. 8, the French Parliament rejected a motion to impeach President Emmanuel Macron. More than 100 lawmakers had voted in favor, accusing Macron of betraying the people and failing to resolve the country’s political crisis.
