Activists pour red paint on Christopher Columbus painting in Madrid

In Madrid, on Spain’s National Day, activists staged a protest against colonialism and the exploitation of indigenous peoples by pouring red paint on a painting of Christopher Columbus. The incident took place at the Naval Museum, according to El País.

Museum security quickly detained the activists and escorted them out of the hall.

The activists stated that they used biodegradable paint for the action.
