Assad and his family in Russia for humanitarian reasons only, says Lavrov
Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family are in Russia solely for humanitarian reasons; He was threatened with reprisals, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a meeting with journalists from Arab countries, according to TASS.
Lavrov also dismissed reports suggesting that the former Syrian president had been poisoned in Russia.
“He has no issues living in our capital. No poisoning has occurred. If such reports have appeared, I leave them to the conscience of those who spread them,” Lavrov stated.
