23-year-old Aysat Baymuradova’s body found

The body of a woman who had been reported missing has been found, and examinations have been ordered, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports.

On Oct. 19, a person contacted the MIA’s Police Operational Management Center, reporting that a woman’s body had been discovered in a rented apartment on Demirchyan Street in Yerevan.

Operational police units from the MIA were dispatched to the scene. It was confirmed that the body belongs to 23-year-old Aysat Baymuradova, who had been reported missing since Oct. 17. Examinations have been ordered, and the circumstances are being investigated as a pretrial inquiry is underway.

As previously reported, Baymuradova had left an apartment on Azatutyan Avenue on Oct. 15 and did not return.

According to Russian media outlet Dozhd, the Chechen woman had fled from Russia to Armenia to escape domestic violence. Baymuradova had told her roommates that she went out for a walk with a friend she met on Instagram, after which contact with her was lost. Human rights activists suggested that she may have been abducted.
