Law enforcement also heard Vardan Ghukasyan must be ‘thrown out’ of public and political life, says Communist Party
The government that once proclaimed itself a “bastion of democracy” is now violating the rights of a city mayor who was lawfully and democratically elected by his own people, the Armenian Communist Party said in a statement, strongly condemning the actions of masked individuals who unlawfully stormed Gyumri City Hall.
“This is an unacceptable and dictatorial step. Let us also recall that these actions followed a well-known statement that Vardan Ghukasyan must be removed from public and political life. The security forces, as we can see, also heard that statement,” reads the statement.
