If Putin flies over Poland to meet Trump in Budapest, he could be arrested, says Poland’s foreign ministry

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has not ruled out that if Vladimir Putin flies over Poland on his way to Budapest to meet Donald Trump, his plane could be forced to land in Poland, and the Russian president could be arrested under an order issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). He made this statement in an interview with Radio Rodzina, meduza.io reports.

“We cannot guarantee that the independent court would not compel the government to stop such an aircraft in order to hand over the suspect to The Hague,” Sikorski said.

He believes that the Russian side is aware of this.

“Accordingly, if that meeting takes place, the planes will fly a different route,” the foreign minister said. He also expressed hope that Ukraine will participate in the Russia–U.S. summit.
