Azerbaijan’s Academy of Sciences president’s daughter robbed of over €1M in Germany

The daughter of Isa Habibbeyli, president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Gunay Masimova, had more than one million euros in cash and valuable items stolen from a bank safe in Germany, according to Azerbaijani media reports.

In connection with the incident, manset.az contacted the ANAS president for clarification. Isa Habibbeyli said that the circulating information is significantly exaggerated.

“I read about this yesterday. They write that one million euros were stolen from my daughter’s bank safe. In fact, that is not true. Many valuable pieces of jewelry and personal items were stolen from my daughter. These items were keepsakes left by her mother and mother-in-law. I have no information about one million euros being stolen from the safe,” he said.

According to media reports, some of the stolen items from the Nuremberg bank safe have been recovered, and the police are investigating the case. Sources indicate that Masimova has left Germany, where she lived in a sham marriage and owned property worth around one million euros.
