Artsakh State Minister: The ICRC managed to persuade the Azerbaijanis to at least not conduct medical examinations in front of the cameras
It has been a long time since the transfer of patients to
Armenia was made impossible, even through the ICRC office in Stepanakert. Thus,
at the moment, there are more than 200 patients waiting to be transferred to
Armenia. Artsakh State Minister Gurgen Nersisyan said this during his interview
with Radio Liberty (RFE/RL).
“As I have mentioned before, Azerbaijan has sent
doctors to the checkpoint. Our patients, who are to be transferred to Armenia
to receive proper medical treatment there, come under medical examination
by Azerbaijanis at the checkpoint. Today, we somehow managed to persuade them
not to carry out the examination in front of the cameras. Can you imagine that
the Azerbaijanis make our patients get off the vehicles so that they can carry
out medical examinations? And if need be, a person can be asked to undress for
the examination. Moreover, among these patients, there are even seriously-ill
people who are being transferred to Armenia in a sitting position in ICRC
vehicles. The ICRC somehow managed to persuade them not to conduct medical
examinations in front of the cameras,” the Artsakh State Minister said.
