Protests held in Malaysia against Trump’s visit

Protests were held in Kuala Lumpur against U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to Malaysia, Lenta.ru reports.

The demonstrations took place at Merdeka Square in the Malaysian capital. They were initially planned to be held at Ampang Park, located directly across from the venue of the ASEAN Summit.

Participants of the rally called for an end to “American imperialism” and urged that Trump be “sent home.” Some protesters even depicted Trump as the devil.

Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags, demanding the liberation of the Gaza Strip, and chanted slogans such as “Sanction Israel.” Police maintained order throughout the protests.

Earlier, Thailand and Cambodia signed a declaration on conflict resolution during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur. The signing ceremony was attended by the U.S. president and the Malaysian prime minister.

According to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, talks between the American and Chinese delegations at the summit laid a solid foundation for a future meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.
