Azerbaijan to skip Euroneast Parliamentary Assembly session in Yerevan
The Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation will not participate in the 12th plenary session of the Euroneast Parliamentary Assembly, scheduled to take place in Yerevan from Oct. 28 to 30, Azerbaijani media reported, citing Tahir Mirkishili, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to Euroneast.
According to Mirkishili, documents and statements from the European Parliament, which make up half of Euroneast’s activity, “contradict Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Earlier, Levan Makashvili, head of the Georgian delegation, announced that Georgia had also decided to skip the Euroneast Parliamentary Assembly session.
In a letter addressed to the Assembly’s co-presidents and bureau members, Makashvili noted that the organization’s recent activities have raised serious concerns. He added that the hostile rhetoric and actions of certain European Parliament members contradict the principles of partnership and mutual respect that this platform is meant to uphold.
