Maps are no longer subject of foreign ministers’ negotiations, says Ararat Mirzoyan

During the National Assembly discussion of the state budget, Kristine Vardanyan, a member of the Armenia alliance, asked Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan:

“You say we have mutually recognized territorial integrity. Give me an example where Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has recognized it in square kilometers. Did you, as foreign minister, insist that a specific map be fixed?”

Mirzoyan responded: “Yes, maps have been discussed publicly. If you recall, the 1975 map was discussed within the framework of the delimitation process.”

He added that from the moment the delimitation process began “to take on a life of its own,” formalized through agreement and ratification, maps ceased to be a subject of negotiations between foreign ministers.
