Musk launches Grokipedia, an alternative to Wikipedia
Tech billionaire Elon Musk on Monday launched an online encyclopedia, named Grokipedia, NBC News writes.
Musk said Grokipedia is fueled by artificial intelligence and designed to be an alternative to Wikipedia.
The billionaire said on X that an AI-generated encyclopedia would be “super important for civilization” and a necessary step toward “understanding the Universe.”
While Wikipedia uses human authors and editors, Musk’s alternative is entirely composed of articles generated and “fact-checked” by xAI’s Grok.
Grokipedia does not allow its users to edit articles, but Musk said that users can ask Grok to add/edit/delete articles, and it will either perform the action or not perform it and explain why.
In a separate X post, Musk added that the goal of Grok and Grokipedia “is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth…We will never be perfect, but we shall nonetheless strive towards that goal.”
