At least 22 people, including four police officers, have been killed during a large-scale anti-crime operation in Rio de Janeiro, according to the state government, Reuters reports.
The operation comes ahead of events linked to the upcoming COP30 global climate summit.
“We are determined to fight drug-related crime,” Rio state governor Cláudio Castro wrote on social media, adding that 2,500 security personnel and 32 armored vehicles took part in the operation.
