Trump rates meeting with Xi Jinping ‘10 to 12 points’

U.S. President Donald Trump rated his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea as “10 to 12 points,” Reuters reports.

This was their first in-person meeting since 2019, the beginning of Trump’s first presidential term.

The meeting between the two leaders lasted about one hour and forty minutes and, according to Trump, went “wonderfully,” with many decisions made.

At the start of the meeting, Trump referred to Xi as a “friend” and a “great leader” whom he felt “fortunate” to meet. Xi said he had a “warm” impression of the meeting and noted that, although the U.S. and China “do not always agree,” the two countries must be “partners and friends.”

Trump announced that the U.S. and China had reached a one-year trade agreement, which will be periodically extended. He said the agreement will be signed “very soon,” as the parties face “no serious obstacles.”

During the U.S.-China trade war, tariffs on Chinese goods will be reduced by 10%, from the current 57% to 47%.

Trump also stated that “all issues related to rare metals” have been resolved.
