New aid package: EU allocates €1.8B to Ukraine
The European Union has allocated a new tranche of €1.8 billion to Ukraine, bringing the total amount of EU assistance provided to Kyiv since 2022 to approximately €180 billion, according to a statement published on the EU Council’s website.
European Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis announced on Oct․ 23 that since February 2022, the EU has already provided Ukraine with around €178 billion in total support, including €63.2 billion in military aid.
“Ukraine will receive €1.8 billion in funding following the Council’s decision to proceed with the fifth regular disbursement under the country’s financial assistance program. This amount reflects Ukraine’s successful completion of nine steps required to obtain the fifth tranche,” the document states.
