Ukraine could have become Europe’s jewel, but Europeans corrupted it, says Zakharova

Russia’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova has stated that Ukraine had all the potential to become Europe’s economic “jewel” and breadbasket, but Europeans ruined it, RIA Novosti reports.

“They [the Europeans] disrupted the situation in a country that, thanks to its resource base, had every opportunity to become a real breadbasket. Ukraine had the potential to become almost the economic jewel of Central Europe, if they [the Europeans] had treated it differently. Instead, they corrupted it, exploited it, and now they are bringing it to an end,” Zakharova said during a broadcast on Sputnik Radio.
