Georgia becoming key trade and transport route between China and Europe, says Kobakhidze

Georgia has reaffirmed its willingness to continue cooperation to increase transport flows between China and Europe via the Middle Corridor, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

“The number of containers transported via the Middle Corridor between China and Georgia grew 71% from January to August 2025. Moreover, the volume of cargo transported in 2024 was 15 times larger than in 2023. Georgia once again confirms its readiness to continue cooperation to expand transport flows between China and Europe via the Middle Corridor,” Kobakhidze stated.

According to him, Georgia increasingly values its role as a link between Europe and Asia.

“Major infrastructure projects — including the construction of the Anaklia deep-sea port, the East-West highway, the Black Sea submarine cable, the new Tbilisi International Airport project, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway — are transforming the country into a major trade and transport route between China and Europe,” he added.
