Man in China loses job because of a step-counting app

A man in China was fired after his employer discovered that, while on sick leave due to foot pain, he had walked more than 16,000 steps a day, news.ru writes.

The employee had already been on sick leave for about a month because of back pain. Later, after working half a day, he again applied for sick leave — this time citing foot pain.

That same day, however, he walked about 12 kilometers, which the company found out through a step-counting app. Moreover, the company also had video footage showing the employee running in the office.

Nevertheless, the court ruled in favor of the dismissed man, ordering the company to pay him 118,000 yuan in compensation.
