Georgia’s former PM charged

Former Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has been charged in connection with police actions that took place on June 20, 2019, Georgian Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze said during a press briefing.

Gvarakidze stated that the case relates to incidents on June 20–21, 2019, as well as the events in Chorchana. Specifically, the charges concern the deliberate infliction of serious bodily harm to more than two individuals during a protest outside the Parliament building, as well as the abuse of official powers by a public political official.
