Lavrov and Araghchi discuss key regional issues

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation to exchange views on bilateral and regional issues, the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

They welcomed the agreement reached between Kabul and Islamabad, brokered by the authorities of Qatar and Turkey, on a mutual ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The diplomats called for continued dialogue between the two friendly states, emphasizing the importance of resolving disagreements through political and diplomatic means to ensure regional stability and security.

Lavrov and Aragհchi also discussed developments in the Middle East, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the related discussions at the United Nations Security Council. They addressed the situation at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors, where France, the United Kingdom, and Germany are reportedly attempting to launch an anti-Iran campaign.

The ministers exchanged views on several aspects of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to the full implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran, which entered into force on Oct․ 2.
