Iran ready to resume talks with US if its demands are met, says supreme leader’s adviser
Iranian authorities are prepared to resume negotiations with the United States over the country’s nuclear program, provided Washington meets Tehran’s demands, Kamal Kharrazi, foreign policy adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told CNN.
“They have to make the first move to show that they are ready to engage with us on the conditions that we put… it has to be based on equal footing and mutual respect,” Kharrazi said.
He added that Tehran is willing to discuss the level of uranium enrichment with Washington, but not its cessation, while emphasizing that Iran “is not going to look for nuclear weapons.”
At the same time, Reuters reported, citing sources, that the United States and the E3 countries (France, Germany, and the United Kingdom) have submitted a draft resolution to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors, demanding access to Iran’s nuclear facilities and enriched uranium stockpiles.
According to sources, the draft resolution is expected to be adopted as early as Nov. 19.
