Iran’s newly appointed ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, has started his diplomatic mission, the Iranian IRNA agency reports.
Mehdi Sobhani held the position of the Consul General of Iran in Pakistan and the Ambassador of Iran to Syria. In a conversation with ABC Media, iranologist Harut Artin Arakelyan mentioned that the new ambassador has extensive experience working in conflict countries. “The new ambassador is very familiar with the Middle East conflicts. This fact is significant for us, because the main part of our conflicts is caused by these very conflicts. I think Iran has deemed this factor important in choosing a new ambassador,” the iranologist said.
Former Ambassador Abbas Zohouri recently completed his diplomatic mission in Armenia. He was appointed ambassador in 2019.
