CIS official says CIS, SCO, and CSTO perform key regional security functions in Eurasia

In the post-Soviet space and across the broader Eurasian continent, the CIS, SCO, and CSTO carry out the main practical functions of regional security. Today, these organizations possess the necessary capabilities to strengthen the interstate defense system against new challenges and threats, said Nurlan Seitimov, Deputy Secretary-General of the CIS, said.

According to Seitimov, the member states of the CIS, SCO, and CSTO, together with their sectoral bodies, have established concrete mechanisms for coordinating cooperation across virtually all areas of interstate relations. Regular political consultations have been created, joint operations involving armed forces, intelligence services, and law enforcement agencies are conducted regularly, and a high level of military-technical cooperation, experience sharing, and personnel retraining is maintained.
