Armenia to skip CSTO summit

Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov has announced that Armenia’s representatives will not attend the CSTO summit scheduled for Nov. 27 in Bishkek, according to Russian media reports.

“Regarding Armenia, this country will not participate in the summit, but its representatives have informed the organizers that they do not oppose the adoption of documents agreed upon during the meeting,” Ushakov told reporters.

The next CSTO summit is scheduled for November 11, 2026, in Moscow. The organization’s chairmanship will pass to Russia starting Jan. 1, 2026.

In February 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia had “frozen” its participation in the CSTO. The PM also noted that the country’s return to the organization was becoming more complicated, if not impossible.
