Macron says only Europeans have the right to decide frozen Russian assets’ fate

French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that only Europeans have the right to decide the fate of frozen Russian assets held in Europe.

In an interview with RTL, the French president added that the EU and Kyiv should not accept U.S. President Trump’s preliminary peace plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier, citing sources, Bloomberg reported that a clause regarding the use of frozen Russian assets had been removed from Trump’s original 28-point plan. Sources said the clause is no longer mentioned in the final version of the plan.

The Financial Times also reported that after the Geneva negotiations, the U.S. peace plan was reduced from 28 points to 19.
