‘In prison, there is nothing to see and nothing to do’, Sarkozy writes book about imprisonment

“In prison, there is nothing to see and nothing to do,” that’s the teaser from French former President Nicolas Sarkozy’s “Prisoner’s Diary” that will be published next month, Euronews writes.

In October, Sarkozy became the first former French president to serve jail time post-World War II. He was convicted of criminal conspiracy over a scheme to fund his 2007 presidential race.

Sarkozy was sentenced to five years in prison, but after spending 20 days in a cell, the court decided that he would be released, but under supervision.

Behind bars, Sarkozy decided to write a book, which, according to media reports, consists of 216 pages.

As noted, when moving to the Santé prison in Paris, the former French president took two symbolic books to read: “The Count of Monte Cristo,” a story about unjust imprisonment and revenge, and a biography of Jesus Christ.
