Details of Armenia-bound transit via Azerbaijan to be clarified by year-end, says Russian Railways
Opening the transit route to Armenia through Azerbaijan creates additional logistical opportunities, said Sergey Pavlov, First Deputy General Director of Russian Railways.
According to him, despite the novelty of the process, the first trial cargo transport has already been completed.
“The results showed that this route is one of the most efficient options for freight carriers and customers,” he noted.
Pavlov stated that the sides are currently working on determining the types of cargo that will be transported for export, import, and transit.
“This process is complex and requires certain stages of approval. However, it is already in an active phase,” Pavlov said.
He added that a joint meeting between the sides was held yesterday on this matter. All details are expected to be finalized by the end of this year.
“I am sure that once this work is completed, we will be able to clearly define the categories and volumes of cargo transported through this route,” Pavlov said.
