Catholicos of All Armenians visits oldest Armenian educational center in the world
Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II visited the Armenian Humanitarian Seminary of Calcutta, which is the oldest continuously operating Armenian educational center in the world.
The newly minted students of the seminary met the Supreme Patriarch with bread and salt, after which a cultural program took place.
Speeches were made, and the seminary choir performed during the event. Indian and Armenian teachers of the seminary also participated.
In his speech, the Supreme Patriarch urged not to be mere eyewitnesses, save and preserve the history of the glorious past of the Armenians in India, but also to create and strengthen the modern history of the Armenian community in India with the same glory and feeling of pride, so that future generations, assessing the deeds of the present, will experience the same feelings and inspiration to make the legacy they inherited from their fathers even stronger to pass on to their successors.
The Supreme Patriarch emphasized that the Calcutta Armenian Humanitarian Seminary will undoubtedly succeed in its enlightened course and will live a new, vibrant life.
The event ended with a Protection prayer. After a group photo with the Supreme Patriarch, the attendees participated in the festive dinner.
