Church faces split: Pashinyan’s special operation’s key to success

A split within the Armenian Apostolic Church is becoming a reality,  EADaily writes, citing church publicist Anastasia Koskello. She says the key to the “success” of the Armenian PM’s special operation is that “Pashinyan is not inventing problems within the Church, but skillfully exploiting existing ones.”

According to her, the turning point was when Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, Primate of the Artsakh Diocese, sided with Pashinyan.

“Meanwhile, Pashinyan is hardly concerned about the bishop’s future. The bishop is already receiving threats, his own brother and clerical colleague have publicly distanced themselves from him, and the Diocesan Council of the Artsakh Diocese has also refused to support him,” Koskello stated.
