War in Ukraine: What European and US officials are saying on the issue?

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that EU leaders have made progress in addressing the situation in Ukraine. She wrote about this on X following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Paris.

“We have made good progress and plan to present our proposals this week,” von der Leyen stated.

Following talks in Paris with President Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron said that a coordinated plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine has not yet been developed.

“To be precise, there is no ready-made plan at this moment,” Macron said. He added that it is particularly important to coordinate with Zelensky on territorial issues.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, in turn, stated that U.S. President Donald Trump has halted the “endless flow of funding” previously provided to Kyiv by the former administration due to corruption in Ukraine. According to Leavitt, Trump “made it absolutely clear that corruption never leads to anything good.”

At the same time, during a phone call with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to the swift resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and the establishment of lasting peace.

According to State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Rubio and Wadephul discussed ongoing efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
