David Tonoyan files petition to leave place of detention to participate in NA Investigative Committee meeting

Former Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan made a statement, saying that he was ready to take part in the meeting of the National Assembly Investigative Committee.

David Tonoyan’s statement reads: “On June 15, 2022, I presented my doubts in a statement about the actual goals of the Investigative Committee of the National Assembly. They were confirmed recently, when the chairman of the committee actually rejected my public proposal to hold an open meeting with the participation of Nikol Pashinyan and I. With all my reservations about the goals and modus operandi of the Investigative Committee, I decided to present myself to the committee to give explanations and answer their questions. The reason for this decision was Nikol Pashinyan’s speech at the committee and the statements of the former Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan, as well as the public demand. The chairman of the Investigative Committee has always stated that he would take measures to resolve the issue of my participation, but so far no actions have been taken in this particular direction. On July 4, I submitted a petition (presented below) to Judge  V. Dolmazyan of the RA Anti-Corruption Court, requesting to be allowed to appear at the committee’s place of operation.”

David Tonoyan  filed a petition to the court for obtaining a permit for a short-term departure in order to appear before the Investigative Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
