Nike makes changes to its management team in an attempt to withstand competition

Nike on Tuesday announced a series of leadership changes designed to accelerate decision making as Chief Executive Officer Elliott Hill enters the second year of a corporate reboot, The Oregonian writes.

The moves include the elevation of Venkatesh Alagirisamy to chief operating officer, a role that hasn’t existed at Nike since 2023. Two other C-level executives, Craig Williams and Muge Dogan, are leaving the company.

Since starting work last year, Hill has worked to reinvigorate Nike’s culture and return its focus to sports. He’s also repeatedly spoken about the need to move faster given that Nike has been in a slump and it faces a more competitive landscape than in recent years.
