Xi Jinping says China and France must show responsibility and determination to ‘cut through the darkness and fog’

China and France must demonstrate responsibility amid major global shifts, as the world stands at a crossroads, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Beijing.

“The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and they are unfolding at a rapid pace. Humanity once again stands at a crossroads, determining its next path. China and France must show responsibility and determination, fly the flag of multipolarity, cut through the darkness and fog, and firmly stand on the right side of history,” Xi stated.

He added that guided by the fundamental interests of their peoples and the long-term interests of the international community, China and France have consistently overcome various obstacles and engaged in dialogue on equal footing to ensure a more stable and successful comprehensive strategic partnership. According to Xi, both sides are working to contribute to a multipolar world and to promote inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalization.
