Trump says peace conditions for Ukraine have worsened, claiming Zelensky should have agreed earlier
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine should have reached a peace agreement as early as February 2025, when he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“You know, when I was in this office, I spoke about the lack of cards. I told [Zelensky], ‘You don’t have the cards.’ That was the time they should have agreed. It would have been a much better time for a settlement,” Trump said.
During the February meeting at the White House, Zelensky and Trump had an argument. The U.S. leader had warned that if Ukraine did not agree to a conflict resolution deal, the U.S. would completely halt all aid to Kyiv.
