Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan train to temporarily run up to Tbilisi
As a result of a landslide in one of the central regions of Georgia on July 1, the railway connecting Tbilisi with the Black Sea regions was damaged, putting a halt on passenger train movement between Tbilisi and Batumi.
Due to this, the passenger train of the South Caucasian Railway company, running on the Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan route, will temporarily run up to Tbilisi. The June 2 train also travelled to the capital of Georgia, and about 200 passengers were transported to Batumi by buses at the expense of the company.
The Railway Administration of Georgia assures that it is doing everything possible to eliminate the consequences of the landslide and restore passenger transportation. The next train from Yerevan to Batumi is scheduled for July 4, about which the company will provide additional information. It is not excluded that passenger transportation will be restored before then.
