Wings of Tatev recognized as world’s best cable car
Wings of Tatev cable car has won the prestigious international World Travel Awards for the fourth time, taking first place in the category of World’s Leading Cable Car. This year, the Armenian cable car once again outperformed competitors from Bolivia, Brazil, Vietnam, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, and South Africa. Wings of Tatev previously brought Armenia victories in the same category in 2024, 2023, and 2021.
The win was announced in Bahrain during the official World Travel Awards 2025 ceremony, following an open voting process.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the cable car opening. Since its launch, the cable car has become one of Armenia’s main tourism symbols. Built on the initiative of Ruben Vardanyan and listed in the Guinness World Records as the world’s longest reversible passenger cable car (5,752 meters), the project has played a key role in the development of both Syunik Province and Armenia as a whole, significantly boosting the country’s tourism appeal.
Today, every fifth visitor to Armenia travels to Syunik, and the region’s tourist flow has increased 17-fold.
