Thousands flee homes amid clashes between Thailand and Cambodia

Thousands of civilians along the Thailand-Cambodia border are fleeing after an escalation of violence between the two countries, the BBC writes.

A Thai military spokesman said air force jets bombed Cambodian military positions after a Thai soldier was killed in an exchange of fire along the disputed border․

Clashes have been reported in Thailand’s north-eastern Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, as well as Cambodia’s northern border provinces of Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey․

Both sides have accused each other of starting the violence , which is the most serious confrontation between the two countries since they agreed to a ceasefire in July․
