Syria marks 1st anniversary of Assad regime fall
Syrians are holding events and celebrations to mark the first anniversary since Bashar al-Assad was toppled from power, the BBC writes.
A military parade has taken place around the main square in Damascus and Syria’s new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is expected to give a speech in the capital.
On Dec. 8 2024, the regime of Bashar al-Assad collapsed, when rebel forces seized control of the capital, Damascus.
Assad fled Syria to Russia, effectively ending his nearly 24-year rule.
