Zelensky ready to hold elections in Ukraine if US and Europe ensure security

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he is ready to hold presidential elections in Ukraine, but emphasized that their security must be guaranteed and Ukraine’s legislation—currently prohibiting elections under martial law—must be amended, the BBC writes.

“And since the U.S. president and our partners are raising this issue today, I’ll respond briefly: see, I am ready for the elections. Moreover, I am now asking openly that the U.S., perhaps together with our European partners, help ensure security for holding the elections. If that happens, Ukraine will be ready to hold elections within the next 60–90 days. I personally have the will and readiness for this,” he said.
